Put The Nuns In
Charge! by Vicki Quade At the Copley Theatre, March 5 - 30
Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays - 2:00 pm
Saturdays - 8:00 pm
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the classroom,
Sister returns in this spin-off of the nationally-acclaimed comedy
phenomenon, LATE NITE CATECHISM.
Vicki Quade, whose hit comedy, Late Nite Catechism is one of the
longest running comedies in Chicago's history, has another
long-running hit: PUT THE NUNS IN CHARGE! (Listen
to Radio Commercial!)
In 1993, Vicki Quade brought to life an idea that Chicago actress
Maripat Donovan wanted to perform. Donovan was fascinated with the
lives of the saints and wanted to do a standup comedy routine. She
approached Quade to write a short skit for her.
Instead, Quade developed the idea and expanded it into the comedy
wonder, Late Nite Catechism, now in its 15th year in Chicago, and a
national and international hit, with productions in more than 150
cities.
If you thought Late Nite Catechism was funny when it took on Vatican
2, see what Sister has to say about behavior in our modern society!
The Seven Deadly Sins have never been this funny.
Put the Nuns in Charge! is a funny refresher course in a modern look
at the Golden Rule. Sister has her own opinions on just about
everything, from the shade of your lipstick to the I-Pod in your
pocket.
Where Late Nite Catechism creates a nostalgic look at Catholic
upbringing, Put the Nuns in Charge! applies that upbringing to
today’s modern problems.
In Sister’s world, everything relates to her upbringing in the
Catholic faith. Instead of listening to modern music, Sister directs
the class to look at the religious classics! She longs for the days
of the May Queen and wonders what examples are being set by today’s
celebrities.
